About

The IGC Ethiopia Country Programme was established in 2010 and continues to build on a successful partnership with the Policy Studies Institute to provide policy advice to Ethiopian policymakers based on independent research of the highest quality.

The country programme’s demand-led approach is driven by active consultations at all stages of the research process with local policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders, including think tanks, international organisations and the private sector. In the past decade, the country programme has built clusters of policy-relevant research outputs in the areas of firm productivity and labour markets in Ethiopia. Civil service productivity and macroeconomic management are also areas garnering recent research focus.

In addition to conducting frontier policy-related research, IGC Ethiopia continues to undertake initiatives to promote collaboration with local researchers. This includes building local researcher network by engaging with the Ethiopian Economics Association.

Our Ethiopia Country Strategy Note is available here (updated January 2021).
